Can I view my MockApp mockups on my iPhone?

Yes! And they look great as long as you use the method I documented here

I get a message saying that the 'Arial MT' font is missing when opening the Library or Template. Why is that and how can I fix it?

This is common on Macs. Turns out that some people have duplicate fonts installed after, for example, upgrading to Snow Leopard.
All you have to do is open your Font Book application (Applications folder), select all fonts, then selected "Validate Fonts" (from the File menu). It shows which fonts are duplicated and you can delete those.

The library file looks great but as soon as I try pasting a UI element from the Library into the Template, I lose all formatting and it looks terrible.

Check your keyboard shortcuts (in the keyboard System Preference). You may have a shortcut setup for or all applications that set ⌘V to 'Paste and Match Style' (instead of just plain Paste). Once you remove that shortcut, copying/pasting items will keep the formatting intact.

Can I export MockApp into Google docs or other format that will import from PowerPoint?

Feel free to experiment but be aware that MockApp is pushing the limits of PowerPoint formatting in terms of precision, complex gradients, etc. Most online tools will break the high-fidelity look of MockApp. If you do find something that works, please let me know so that I can share it here!

I need a UI element I can't find in MockApp. How can I get it?

I add UI elements and features to MockApp every week. Please email me at mailto:dotan@mockapp.com with a description if the UI element you need and I'll make sure it's included in the next version.

Why should I use MockApp when there's an iPhone interface design tool built into the iPhone SDK?

If you're familiar with the iPhone SDK and are comfortable doing rapid prototyping with it then you have no need for MockApp. MockApp was built for people who either can't use the SDK or find it faster/easier to do UX mockups in PowerPoint or Keynote.

MockApp templates look pretty easy to use but I just don't have the time or the patience. Can I work with someone to mock-up my app idea?

We're working on a list of great app designers who use MockApp. In the meantime email us and we'll hook you up.
If you are a designer and would like to be featured in this list, please contact us with samples of your work.

How can I find a good programmer to program my App after I mock it up with MockApp?

I started assembling a list of iPhone developers and development shops. Feel free to start there for now. My plans are to grow that list and then create some sort of ranking of the top developers using home grown criteria mixed with actual customer reviews.

There's already a bunch of iPhone mockup tools out there. Why should MockApp be any better at prototyping iPhone apps?

I invite you to read the post Why Mockup with MockApp. But the summary is: MockApp is like a good pair of slippers, wireframes never get anyone excited, and static mockups suck... OK... better read that post.

Will MockApp automatically code my App after I mock it up?

Wouldn't that be nice? We'll make sure to include that feature on version 23.5. More seriously, MockApp is simply a Powerpoint / Keynote template. It doesn't "do" anything other than displaying your idea as a high-fidelity mock-up.
